G.A.R.S FRENCH TRANSLATION
Version : FR05 BETA 2

Here is the French translation FR05 beta 2 GARS 2.0 RC5. I've looked after hardcoded phrases and it was very hard to find some ;)

How to install this translation ?

There are two ways to install the french translation :
  1. with product method (Geek_gars_fr_produit.xml)
The translation is included in a product, so the install and update are very easy BUT english phrases are replaced by french ones. So forget this, if you want use several languages on your forum.
  2. with language method ; use Geek_gars_fr_fichier langue.xml
For more explanation, go and read THIS POST (solution given by Andreas) :
If you have questions in french or if you want to improve this translation, go to
vbulletin-fr.org

Hardcode phrases
  • See in admincp->GARS->Import/Export and admincp->GARS->Import/Export->Export
  • I've also find this phrase : "Submit the above ratings (box must be ticked to save ratings)"

Thanks. Ill see to those phrases for gold.

Thanks, but this messed me up big time. It's not a translation, it's a replacement. As my forum is bilibgual, I installed it and that wiped out the english phrases completely!!!

OK I had to reinstall Gars in order to get my english back. Is there a way to have both just by importing this?

The Geek 09-06-2006 07:12 PM

It looks like a product to me (i.e. you install it via vb's product manager). Hmmm... not sure if that would overwrite the phrases or not. How did you import it? Also, how did you download it without clicking install?

Well, this is a product file. It means when you upload it, it will delete english phrases. This way is very simple to upgrade or to modify a translation. It's also very usefull for me to see which phrases i still have to translate :p

I'm going to do a language file if you prefere. It will allow you to use several langages.

Lionel may have downloaded the file on vbulletin-fr.org ; if french users have sugestions to help me to improve the translation, they can do it overthere. It's more easy to have a french speaking forum ;)

The language file will be done after the France-Italie football match :D

The Geek 09-06-2006 08:15 PM

hehe. Cool. A language export would be cool.

viva la France ;)

cclaerhout 09-06-2006 09:08 PM

Alea Jacta Est Italia :D So now, let's go to create that langage file.

cclaerhout 09-06-2006 09:42 PM

Ok, that's good now :)

TheGeek, i think you should upload a xml icon for the attach files. It would look better.

Was that for me? I did click install and right now it shows uninstall for me. I redownloaded, would love to have it, but am very nervous now not to wipe the entire french language.
