So calling the attachment.php will be turned into an ordinary URL.
Logical to prevend malicious content. A hack to accept our own attachment.php to show up as an image might be an idea.

eh?

Not sure what you are meaning. You can use vB's inline attachment system for displaying attachments in your post

How I know the attachment system of vBulletin is the following, but I might be missing some option to achieve my point.

===
You have your complete message here

----------------------------------
| thumbnails of attachments here |
----------------------------------
====

Since I have many graphic tutorials I want in my articles like this:

====

Some text here

Image1.jpg
Some text explaining to Image 1

Image2
text to image 2

etc.

====

But still I want my users to be able to upload the images as part of the message. With the attachments is fine for me. But I want it displayed in the message like the second image does, which I linked from an external site.
But linking images from an external source is absolutely a no go for me, much to unreliable.

Use vB's inline attachment ability.

Upload the attachments as normal, put your sursor where you want the image, click the paperclip icon on the tool bar and select the attachment you want to display.
