Forums containing categories with sub forums

i didnt quite know what would happen but in my settings i set a forum i have that contains categories with subforums to a GARS Type. I was hoping to add modules to the left and right with GARS but the only thing that happened is it added the A B C at the top any ideas anyway check out the screen shot

Does the module set you have assigned to the forums type have the modules set up corrrectly?
