Combining author rating and user rating

I do not have use for both author rating and user rating. I'd like to combine these ratings. Is this possible?

I assume that you mean under adminCP -> types -> (relevant type) ->
ratings:
'Author can post ratings' and 'Author rate as a member?'

I have both set to yes. Which one should I change?

They should both be yes.

Where you refering to another option? If so which? What should I do?

If both of those setting are 'yes' then the ratings will be merged into the member ratings. You could still show the authors ratings seperatly by having the author rating module, however the authors ratings would then show in both modules (users AND members). If both options are set to yes, remove the author rating module and show only the member rating module. I think that is what you are after.

I have however made a mistake in this process and deleted the Author Rating module. To correct this I have re-registered it. This has not allowed me get author rating working again. When posting a new review with ratings, the author ratings are not displayed. Do you have an idea how to fix this?

You shouldnt have to re-register it - only readd it to the module set. It being in the module set wont affect your ratings, it will only display the results.
