Hi, I'm in charge on The MLG PwnCast. Anyhow, right now I'm trying to see what we can do to improve. As you can tell we're using the vBadvanced CMPS software.
http://www.mlgpwncast.com/?page=articles Here is an example. Its using the 'news' module powered by inactive forums (so they don't showup on as sub-forums thus making everything very messy IMHO). Can GARS improve upon our current setup? Will I still be able to use the vBadvanced CMPS software and pull it from there? Honestly I'm mostly interested in the different pages you can have (sort of like chapters) and the cleaner interface. Everything else GARS has seems like icing on the cake. If GARS works I'll be buying it alongside GAL (which I'm already planning on doing so). Thanks for the help! P.S. - Can GAL use two words like 'Midship CTF' or does it have to be one word only? |

Thats a creative approach to an article system
![]() In a nutshell, yes - GARS will greatly improve on your setup. You could use the news module to pull from GARS - however thats a bit of a workaround and not really the best way forward. I hired a guy to create some vbaCMPS modules for this sort of thing, however he seems to have let me down? Ill go chase him up and find out whats up. As far as GAL goes, yes, it can link 2 words. Where you get into troble is if you have Midship CTF setup and CTF. Technically speaking, if you have CTF as a lower ordinal, you should be fine, however it could double link if midship ctf gets linked first. HTHs |

.Am I able to customize it to make my left column appear on the GARS pages (there is a hack for that somewhere at vbadvanced - just have to find it). If I can do that then by all means I'll be excited because it would create a completely integrated site with zero change between pages .Thanks! Also, to to avoid the double linking should I just not setup things like 'CTF.' Oh yeah - can I make it so that I have different words that will all show the same one (since it seems a lot of gamers don't know how to spell Midship so they use abbreviations like 'Middy.') Basically - can it take into account abbreviations if I enter them? *Starts pulling out wallet* Edit - is the one year thing like a lease (ala vBulletin's 1 year lease) or is it just support? Either way I think I'm sold. Edit 2 - Out of curiousity I know that you can use GAL with a work around (I have the link up in one of my tabs) - but can that also be done if the VBA page is not in the same directory (its in root, forums are /forums/) Edit 3 - Found out how to integrate my side module to GARS (if GARS supports it which I'd assume it does). Takes care of the workaround. Sad thing is I've searched high and low to find a little snippet of code in that dang functions.php file. Here's the link to the thing if you want it for future reference - http://www.vbadvanced.com/membersare...tid=4&pageid=6Thanks (I'm done editing )Last edited by Bluestrike2; 12-20-2005 at 11:05 PM.. |

Im not sure what you mean by your CTF question - regardless, its not much of an issue anyway
![]() As far as customizing columns goes, GARS has its own module system that will do that for you. Then again if you want the same columns across all pages, the vba route is the better way to go. nJoy |

O yea, forgot to answer your license question.
The 1 year thing is for access to the download area for 1 year. Buying a license gives you a lifetime access and 1 year free updates. Support isn't really promised - just delivered ![]() |

Can't wait to get this up and running . I'll update in this thread to show off to ya . |

.You wouldn't be willing to share how you manage to integrate GARS and vBa so well would you by any chance? On another note: Adding the sidebars: I've had to open a ticket/thread over at vbadvanced.com because of this little rascal ![]() Fatal error: Call to undefined function: print_portal_output() in /hsphere/local/home/bluestri/mlgpwncast.com/forums/includes/functions.php on line 2561 Once thats sorted out I can't wait. Thank you SO much. Last edited by Bluestrike2; 12-22-2005 at 01:10 AM.. |
