Default Ratings Suggestion

One of the things I am rating on my directory site is Prices. Now GARS can easily handle such a request with ratings however most directories list Prices as the higher the Number, the more expensive the price. This is fine unless you have other rating fields such as customer support or shipping speed.

Price ratings are kinda a beast of thier own, as a higher price may or may not be a good thing (it depends on the person). So if someone rates GARS with a high price, it bumps up the overall score and skews the ratings average for someone who thinks that a lower price is better. So I'd like to suggest 2 options to account for this anomolly:

A. Allow an inverse calculation option for each rating, where a lower number actually scores higher. This is probably an easier fix than the second option, however it still affects the average calculation improperly depending on the viewers opnion of high vs low prices.

B. Allow for multiple collations of ratings where you can have 1 set of ratings create 1 average score and another set of ratings create another average score.

Something to mull over for 2.1.

yowzer. You just did my nut in there!

Why not use something like value for money? Maybe a custom field for Premium, midrange or cheap? How do you see the price affecting the overall value of the item?

I guess value for money would work, it does describe what is says, although is a bit wordy. Sorry, I've been mulling this over for a few weeks trying to figure out the best way to phrase it. Prices is too vague, Pricing is too vague, Maybe just value... I don't know...

I thought of a custom field, but I want everyone to be able to chime in on the field. So I guess it would have to be a subjective phrase like value for money. Thanks for helping me thing this through.
