Default [already in vb]Attachment handling.

If at all possible, I'll like to have the articles system handle attachments differently. On www.pashnitforum.com we don't use thumbnails ever. The owner of the site hates them. So in order to enter images in the appropriate place, img tags must be used. Now for some of the writers, this is easier said than done.

I would like to see an easier way of inserting attached images into a post with img tags. www.southbayriders.com has set up a custom method. Attached images are put into a drop down box, when they are clicked, the img tags and url are automatically inserted into the post. I'd actually like to see thumbnails of attached images placed somewhere in the reply box, then when a user clicks, the text will be inserted, or in the case of WYSIWYG the full image will be inserted.

THough still not functioning, try creating an article to see the gallery availible. I am sure thats not what you are after (just thought I would point it out just incase).

vb3.5 lets you put attachments inline and since the attachemnts listing is actually a mod, you can upload attachments, place them inline and turn the attachment mod off which will reult in what you are after.
Pending that, I use vBa gallery and my popup mod to insert images inline from my gallery into my article. Its pretty user friendly though I havent looked at the code to plan an upgrade to 3.5 though.

That seems to be an issue with novice users though. I'm going for extremely user friendly. The method they are using on sbr is good (see attachment), but I'd like to go a step further.

I suppose if I had a version of the GARS I could try to do it myself.

No kidding. I have never seen it before. I'll have to do some more research. That should be adequate, though I still like my thumbnail idea.

The thumbnail is cool but kind of out of scope for the system.

That screenshot is a vb3.5 editor. Notice the attachemnt drop down? Go play with it
